Everything in life is marketing.
Speaker:Think about it when you're out and about there's this endless stream of messages
Speaker:coming at you from billboards to radio ads, or even a friend's recommendation on
Speaker:the best coffee shop around the corner.
Speaker:You're part of this.
Speaker:When you're trying to put your kids to sleep without knowing it,
Speaker:you're trying to persuade them.
Speaker:You're marketing them to do something that they may or may not want to do.
Speaker:I think that counts as marketing on today's show.
Speaker:We're going to be talking about marketing from a different angle.
Speaker:I'm going to show you how you can use it in all areas of your life.
Speaker:Not just business.
Speaker:I'm a man Ahmed and welcome to be well do well
Speaker:before we get started though.
Speaker:I want to let you know that this is one of my favorite topics so much so
Speaker:that I actually want to get a t-shirt with the words, everything in life
Speaker:is marketing printed on the front.
Speaker:All right.
Speaker:Back to the show.
Speaker:Now, let me start by telling you about a three-line email that opened
Speaker:my eyes to another perspective on how you look and think about marketing.
Speaker:Every morning, I spend a little bit of time processing my.
Speaker:About 90% of my emails are just newsletters, updates, notifications, and
Speaker:I usually archive them and I keep going.
Speaker:One, if the email newsletters that I subscribe to is from Seth Goden.
Speaker:He sends daily emails that are both really interesting and insightful on this
Speaker:particular morning, I received this email from him and it was only three lines long.
Speaker:The subject of the email was a simple but difficult marketing.
Speaker:So that got my attention right away.
Speaker:I was like, all right, what is this all about?
Speaker:They email was so short that I was sure I would just read it and skip
Speaker:over it and go onto my next emails.
Speaker:However, those three lines in that email while short in length required me to
Speaker:actually take time and internalize it.
Speaker:This is how it read again.
Speaker:The subject is the simple but difficult marketing flip and the body was.
Speaker:From pay attention.
Speaker:I want you to buy what I make too.
Speaker:I've been paying attention and I think I can offer you what you want.
Speaker:This is the shift that Seth Godin is asking you to make.
Speaker:Going from pay attention.
Speaker:I want you to buy what I made and he wants you to think about it
Speaker:as I've been paying attention.
Speaker:And I think I can offer you what you want.
Speaker:I think that's so simple and so difficult, and that's what makes it so profound.
Speaker:The simple flip changed the way I perceive.
Speaker:With our clients.
Speaker:This is our main approach that we take.
Speaker:We take time to look at what their audience is doing, saying, feeling,
Speaker:and then offer a solution to their problems rather than trying to maybe
Speaker:trick or coerce their audience.
Speaker:Here's an example to further describe.
Speaker:A couple of years ago, we were offering a free training on our
Speaker:website on how to determine your archetype as a business owner.
Speaker:If you're not familiar with archetypes, I think this is something you should
Speaker:definitely Google and look up.
Speaker:It's fascinating to get access to this training.
Speaker:One had to enter their name and email address as well as
Speaker:answer one simple question.
Speaker:What is your biggest struggle with your.
Speaker:The answer has really surprised me.
Speaker:Sure.
Speaker:There were the typical answer such as I don't have enough money to do
Speaker:marketing, or I don't have enough time or I don't have enough knowledge, but
Speaker:one answer kept coming up over and over again, which I didn't expect.
Speaker:And that was that they lacked confidence to market their books.
Speaker:By knowing this, we were able to adjust our messaging to connect
Speaker:with our audiences so much better.
Speaker:And this made a huge difference in how we related to our potential clients.
Speaker:Now, as a parent, I can try to force my kids to do their homework or
Speaker:practice their piano, but instead I know, take time and pay attention.
Speaker:Then at the right time, gently guide them into those tasks, being patient,
Speaker:understanding them, and then asking them to do what I'd like them to do,
Speaker:like going to bed made a huge deal.
Speaker:As you can see this simple marketing flip can be applied to multiple
Speaker:areas of your life and business.
Speaker:On tomorrow's show.
Speaker:We're going to be talking about time.
Speaker:I'll show you how you can actually stretch time to get more done in less time.
Speaker:Thanks for listening and have an awesome day.
